image002Shae A. Steven is an Associate with the firm. Her practice focuses on fidelity insurance law and general civil litigation. For nearly a decade, Ms. Steven has been retained by one of the country’s largest fidelity insurers to investigate, negotiate and settle high-dollar claims filed by financial institutions seeking losses caused by employee “bad acts”. From Washington to Hawaii, Ms. Steven has traveled the country to conduct over 50 forensic investigations into claims of embezzlement, check-kiting, computer fraud, forgery, high-volume loan loss, money laundering, and titling issues. Ms. Steven works alongside financial institution management, Boards of Directors, forensic auditors, CPAs, FBI agents, and adjusters to gather documentation and reach fair and amicable settlements. Through her fidelity work, Ms. Steven has gained experience in professional liability actions, subrogation and recovery, bankruptcy and creditors’ rights. A detail-oriented professional, Ms. Steven thrives in data-intensive fields and prides herself on her ability to condense voluminous data into manageable content from which issues are narrowed and settlements become feasible. A natural “people person”, Ms. Steven excels when she is able to utilize her interpersonal skills to aid in party-cooperation, document production, negotiation, and liaising among multiple parties to handle sensitive matters gracefully.
